This year, my 5th grader is learning about the Regions & States of the USA. I created some simple printable pages for her to use this year as she explores them, and I thought I’d share them with you.

Regions & States of the USA Printable Pages
These printable pages are simple and to the point. I did not create pages that ask her to memorize all the state birds, flowers, trees, insects, etc.*
The main things I want her to know about each state are:
- Where each state is located {the region and exact location on a map}
- The capital of each state
- The abbreviation of each state
- Any distinguishing land features, places, or people from each state
That’s what these pages are for!
*I did, however, created a “My State” Page that can be found at the end of the file if you want your learner to explore more about their own state.

There are pages for 5 US regions {Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, & Western} plus a single page for all 50 states. Here’s a little peek at the pages you can print for your learners. You’ll find:
1. a cover page that you can slip in the front of a 3-ring binder {a 1- or 1.5-inch notebook should suffice}. The cover page comes in color and blackline.
2. a printable chart that you can print front to back of all 50 states, their capitals, and abbreviations organized by their region. I recommend putting it right up front.
3. a single page for the 5 US regions
4. a cover page for each region plus an introduction page where learners label each state in the region.
5. a single page for every state. This gives learners a closer glance at each state. To fill in the information for each page, learners can look online OR use books.
Materials & Books I recommend:
- 1- or 1.5-inch notebook {I recommend one with a clear cover.}
- a 3-hole punch
- books about the states {Both my son and daughter have enjoyed using The 50 States the most, but we also use National Geographic Kids’ United States Atlas.}
